As an Infrastructure Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms team, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our Postgres databases. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with development teams, ensure data security, and stay updated with the latest PostgreSQL features and technologies. Job responsibilities
Applies technical knowledge and problem-solving methodologies to projects of moderate scope, with a focus on improving the data and systems running at scale, and ensures end to end monitoring of applicationsMonitor database health and performance using tools and scripts. Troubleshoot and resolve database issues and errors. Analyze and optimize database performance. Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve efficiency.Help to plan and execute data migration projects. Integrate Postgres databases with other systems and applications. Maintain documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures. Work closely with development teams to support application requirements. Provide technical support and guidance to other team members.Ensure databases comply with industry standards and best practices. Stay updated with the latest PostgreSQL features and technologies.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification on infrastructure disciplines concepts and 3+ years applied experienceStrong knowledge of one or more infrastructure disciplines such as hardware, networking terminology, databases, storage engineering, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, and performance assessmentsExperience working with PostgreSQL databases. Specifically, versions 16 & 17 with a keen interest being shown in version 18Experience in database design, implementation, and maintenance.Deep understanding of Postgres architecture and internals.Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Proficiency in SQL and PL/pgSQL programming.Strong database security management with knowledge of cyber security and controls Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skillsExperience with EnterpriseDB and its software is beneficial.Knowledge and experience with Python and understanding of modern engineering practices (SRE, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, continuous integration) would be beneficial
