Infrastructure Engineer
Job Description Insight Global is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support the evolution of our enterprise infrastructure and assist with the execution of our cloud roadmap under architectural guidance. This role will focus on strengthening our Microsoft and Azure ecosystem while also providing moderate Linux support as we transition workloads and mature our operating model. The position will work closely with internal IT teams, third party MSP partners and system support partners, and other cross-functional teams to modernize our environment, improve system reliability, and support critical business applications across North America. Responsibilities • Administer and support enterprise-class Azure services, including virtual machines, storage, networking, identity integrations, and security configurations • Support automation and orchestration efforts across Azure and on-prem environments (PowerShell, scripting, policy automation, runbooks, etc.) • Assist in the build-out of Vallen’s future Azure environment and support enforcement of established cloud governance framework, and policies to enable future workload migration • Perform routine maintenance, patching, and troubleshooting on Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022). • Provide moderate Linux systems support (service management, troubleshooting, logs, performance checks), while leveraging third party partners for deeper escalations • Administer VMware environments (vSphere/ESXi), including virtual machine lifecycle management, resource allocation, and cluster health • Support Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, and identity federation (Azure AD/Entra) integrations • Assist with Azure SQL Managed Instances, including routine management, backups, and performance tuning • Implement and monitor backup and disaster recovery processes across on-premises and cloud environments • Collaborate with MSP partners to ensure consistent patching, system updates, and baseline configuration management • Contribute to network support efforts including firewall/VPN troubleshooting, switch configuration, and connectivity escalations • Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, and reliability, providing reports to leadership as needed • Assist with Microsoft 365 administration including Teams, SharePoint, and related security/governance tasks • Document procedures, system configurations, environment details, and architectural changes We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. Skills and Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field required • 3-5+ years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure Linux, Primarily Red Hat and Ubuntu, Windows Server, virtualization, networking, cloud services) • 2-3+ years of hands-on Microsoft Azure experience in a production environment • Strong experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi administration • Working knowledge of Linux (system services, permissions, logs, performance basics) • Solid understanding of Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, Group Policies, and identity integrations • Experience with backup/DR technologies and routine disaster recovery planning • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose complex issues • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and collaborate with cross-functional teams effectively • Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or related Microsoft certification • Experience with automation, scripting, or orchestration (PowerShell, Bash, Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates) • Exposure to cloud migration efforts or infrastructure modernization projects • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration and identity/SaaS integrations
