Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all Information Technology and Communications functions within the company operations, providing strategic leadership and effective coordination across administrative processes, business planning, technology alignment, and the efficient operation of the company’s IT Communications infrastructure.

Your Duties and Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

Lead a team in the IT department to ensure the provision of quality IT and communications support to the company.

Ensure that all Commercial related activities are auctioned and managed in accordance with relevant environmental, legal and social responsibilities.

Be an active participant in the IT & Communications team and assist with achievement of Company goals and the alignment of IT & Communications of the business requirements.

Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the section and assist in the development and maintenance for those of the Company.

Provide regular operational reports to enable affective management of key performance activities.

Continually monitor costs whilst proactively identifying and implementing cost effective initiatives to optimize IT & Communications expenditure within the company.

Accountable for completion of all tasks identified in the Management Operating System (MOS) to the specified quality and timelines as assigned to this role

Develop, implement and maintain safe work procedures and promote high safety and health awareness.   Promote and comply with the LMC Occupational Health & Safety Policy.

Be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the team.

Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner.

Maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders in LMC’s mining activities, consistent with Barrick’s Community Relations Policies.

Become actively involved in Barrick’s aims and objectives of engaging with the local community and strive to leave a positive impact on the longer-term outcomes for local people.  Promote the integration between this engagement and the success of the business.

Ensure the development and maintenance of up-to-date job procedures for all tasks performed within the function.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

Full Grade 12 School Certificate.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or relevant Electronic Engineering fields.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Senior or Managerial role in the Mining sector in designing, implementing and maintaining the full cycle of IT and Communications systems.

Sound knowledge and experience of IT & Communication systems in the design, implementation and maintenance thereof.

Sound project management skills and a full understanding of the business and the mining environment.

Experience in managing costs and budgeting

Knowledge and experience in the development of the sections goals and strategy to maintain the systems in company growth, expansion and corporate requirements. 

Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications. 

High level understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry in Zambia. 

Ability to communicate effectively across all levels
