Information Technology Group - Manufacturing Controls IT Integration Engineer
Job Description

The Controls IT Integration team is responsible for validating manufacturing equipment datasets in support of various GM IT Manufacturing IT systems across GM. Candidates will find the position very rewarding - tackling legacy system integration, deployment of new manufacturing technologies supporting business intelligence solutions to improve the operational efficiencies of the business. Candidates must be up for a challenge and be prepared to work collaboratively across the organization to design, build and sustain systems that enable GM to continue as the leader in the automotive business.

The GM Manufacturing Controls Integration Engineers are critical to ensuring the Manufacturing IT Controls Memory Map specification is comprehensively and accurately deployed within GM's Engine, Transmission and Castings product programs. Manufacturing Controls Integration Engineer responsibilities range from high-level business and supplier user interfaces to define and document IT dataset technical specifications, to hands-on dataset validation and debugging to ensure accurate and timely delivery of product launch related Manufacturing IT systems. Role requires physical location/travel to GM vendor and manufacturing sites while performing work representing the goals and direction from the Central IT group in Warren, MI. 

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent work experienceMicrosoft Office Excel and Word capabilitiesProficient in English

Data analysis experienceKnowledge or exposure to manufacturing processes and systemsSupports and drives GM IT launch implementation initiatives
Participates in functional area plant meetings and related functions to represent IT project management and to assist in meeting launch IT performance goals.Learns technical concepts and practices quicklyCommunicate issues to proper parties within affected departmentsProvides defined technical support and direction to support personnel within the organizationInvestigates dataset integration problems and provides technical input in problem resolutionWorks with Central office teams to promote common systems and best practicesAssures common IT architecture for all new and revised tooling and equipmentCommunicates IT Launch requirements to the appropriate staffs and coordinates controls integration activities with the plant business teamMaintains good working relationships with peers, hourly, union, management, supplier community and interfaces with necessary support functions inside and outside of the plantAbility to grasp complex systems easilyDevelops and monitors planning timetables and project schedulesReports planning progress to all departments impactedExcellent oral and written communication skills.Able to take highly technical discussions to the appropriate level to foster proper understanding to drive decisions and forward progressStrong logical / analytical thinker.Ability to reason and think logically, apply judgment, solve complex problems, and implement solutionsStrong organizational skills and attention to detail. Exceptional work ethic with the ability to multi-task under limited supervisionLearn business processes and how underlying systems and technologies enable processesAdheres to an appropriate (for the setting) and effective set of core values and beliefs during good and bad times; acts in line with those valuesResponds and relates well to direction from multiple program management leadership sources.Enforces safe work practices as the highest priority and implements objectives for health/safety, and housekeeping

Hybrid: This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Markham three times per week, at minimum.
