**Job Description** Investigates and documents possible infectious outbreaks and works with administration and the departments involved to correct the problem **Qualifications** **Requirements:** + Masters **/** BA/BS in Microbiology, Nursing, Public Health or other relevant field. An advanced degree is preferred. + Working knowledge of Infectious Diseases spread and Microbiology is required. + For nursing - New York State License in Nursing with current registration preferred + 3-5 years of Infection Prevention and Control experience preferred. + Certification in Infection Control (CIC) through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC). + Good investigative skills. Ability to write, educate and work independently. + Excellent written and oral communication skills **Responsibilities** **Roles & Responsibilities:** + Knowledge of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and professional healthcare association guidelines for the prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). + Conducts surveillance for reporting to the CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) and state and local agencies. + Investigates and documents possible infectious disease outbreaks and works with administration and the departments involved to resolve and prevent future outbreaks. + Assists in follow-up of exposures to infectious pathogens. + Ensures that Infection Prevention and Control guidelines for all departments are current and appropriate. + Prepares and conducts ongoing Infection Prevention and Control in-service education programs and presentations for all Departments. + Participates in Infection Prevention and Control Committee meetings by presenting relevant infection prevention and control data collected throughout surveillance periods. + Ensures Infection Prevention and Control Plans, Assessments, and Policies are complete and current. + Serves as liaison to the Engineering team regarding Infection Prevention and Control issues as they pertain to construction and remediation projects. + Serves as a member of the Hospital Emergency Management Committee and other relevant Committees to Infection Prevention. + Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide relevant patient care and education in assigned areas, based on physical, psychological, educational, safety, and other related criteria. **About Us** **Strength through Unity and Inclusion** The Mount Sinai Health System is committed to fostering an environment where everyone can contribute to excellence. The salary range for the role is $87692.27 - $131538.4 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
