\nThe Infection Preventionist 1 implements and reviews the facility's infection prevention program. They ensure standards and guidelines from professional organizations and agencies are included. They also serve as a resource for infection prevention issues for all facility personnel.
\nThe ideal candidate will have a background in Infection Prevention, Laboratory (MT, MLT or MLS), or Nursing. Highly organized and detail oriented with a curious/investigative nature, you will at times need to determine where an infection came from. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, is a must.
\nEssential Functions of the Role
\n\nDesigns, implements, and evaluates infection prevention strategies to control infectious agents. Applies epidemiologic values and evidence-based guidelines.\nConducts ongoing surveillance using CDC infection criteria. Evaluates the surveillance plan's effectiveness and modifies it as necessary.\nReports patients with communicable diseases to the appropriate health authority.\nDevelops and updates isolation techniques and procedures by current standards of practice, rules, and regulations.\nEvaluates the infection prevention program. Maintains compliance with national standards and regulating bodies like Joint Commission, CDC, OSHA, FDA, and HHS. Uses observations, audit tools, and other methods.\nPlans, organizes, develops, and implements educational programs to increase employee awareness of the existence of healthcare-associated infections.\nParticipates in quality/performance improvement activities by assessing, monitoring, and measuring healthcare-associated infections and evaluating outcomes on a continuous basis.\nPartners with teams and team members to create, educate, and sustain evidence-based infection prevention strategies, as well as give feedback.\nParticipates in educational activities, professional meetings, and peer networking. Reviews literature to stay updated on healthcare and infection control research.\nPerforms other position-appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional, and courteous manner.\n\nKey Success Factors
