Position Summary:

Maintains infection prevention and control program according to established policies, evidence-based practice, and regulatory and professional organization guidelines. Performs routine educative, consultative, and investigative functions as it relates to infection prevention and control.

What the Infection Control Coordinator will need:

Registered Nurse license to practice in the State of Michigan with Bachelor’s degree or Medical Lab Scientist degree with MLS (ASCP) certification.Registered Nurse license or Medical Lab Scientist MLS (ASCP)Five years of nursing experience or five years of microbiology experienceExperience in Infection Control preferred

What the Infection Control Coordinator will do:

Review potential hospital-acquired infections using the National Healthcare Safety Network definitions.Educate patients and healthcare professional on infection prevention and control.Oversee organizational policies.Review communicable disease results and report to the appropriate county or state health department. Maintains program for the surveillance, prevention and control of infection. Coordinates infection control committee and epidemiologic activities.Monitors and updates infection control, including employee health, policies and procedures annually and as needed.Investigates unusual epidemics, clusters or infections due to unusual pathogenic organisms. Reviews and analyzes incident reports, infection control data and other information relevant to infection control. Prepares statistical reports and/or provides findings to infection control committee.Presents infection control in services and training for employees, MGHP affiliates, and the community.Counsels employees as part of exposure protocol
