About Us
The Strategic Intelligence Team serves as Target’s source of truth for macroeconomic, retail industry and competitive insights and intelligence. The team is responsible for developing actionable insights that inform Target’s corporate strategy, planning, and portfolio decisions. To do so, the team produces analytically ambitious, predictive intelligence with compelling narratives that help shape Target’s short- and long-term aspirations. The team operates in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. Each team member develops a deep and proactive understanding of the rapidly evolving industry, consumer, competitor, and regional drivers and trends. The Intelligence Senior Consultant will be responsible for analysis and reporting which supports work for the Executive Leadership Team, Enterprise Strategy Pyramid and Board of Directors.
Role Responsibility
Leverage complex and extensive data sets to conduct analysis and maintain reporting on key and emerging retail, market, consumer, competitor and business trends.
Organize research, analyze raw information from multiple sources, remove bias, and structure clear actionable reports for senior leadership on weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
Support ad-hoc analysis and data requests from Intelligence Leads, Principal and Directors.
Maintain and elevate relationships with internal and external data providers and key industry experts as sources of intelligence. Understand strengths and limitation of each and consult cross-functionally on appropriate use of each.
Respond with urgency to leadership ad hoc requests.
Develop and maintain ongoing working relationships with all Strategy teams (Enterprise Strategy Development, Enterprise Growth, Partnerships), other insights functions across the organization (including, but not limited to, Enterprise Insights, Assortment Insights Capability) and other key business functions (including, but not limited to, Finance, Investor Relations, Merchandising, Digital and Marketing).
About You
4- year college degree with 3+ years of experience in retail or CPG, with strong knowledge of industry dynamics, trends, and competitive landscapes.
Proven strategic thinker with exceptional analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills; able to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights.
Skilled in defining key business questions, structuring analysis, and delivering well-supported recommendations to leaders across the organization.
Adept at using a wide range of data sources (e.g., US Census, BLS, Circana, Numerator, Placer.ai, internal financial tools) to uncover insights and guide decision-making.
Effective communicator with a curious mindset, driven to learn and deliver results in ambiguous and evolving environments.
This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
