Industrial Pipe Fitter, Barberton OH

Starting Pay Rate: 33.62/hour.

Sign On Bonus: $1000, $500 payable after 90 days on job, $500 payable after 180 days on job. $1000 Retention Bonus payable after 365 days on job.

Shifts:  Day Shift, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday

As a Pipe Fitter, at PPG Barberton, OH plant, you will be a crucial part of our operations, ensuring that a quality product is available to our customers when they need them. Your work will directly affect people’s lives!

Under general supervision, hand welding and flame cutting equipment such as arc welders, gas welders, and gas torches to weld together metal components (flat, horizontal, or vertical plates and pipes). Works from sketches, prints, operation sheets, preliminary drawings, and written/verbal instructions. Must maintain welding specifications. Set up and operate welding equipment.

 Primary Responsibilities

Select type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders according to specificationsPlan installation or repair to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of other workersReview P&ID drawings and job specifications to determine work requirementsFabricate and modify piping systems and process equipmentCut pipe using saws, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe- cutting machineThread pipe using pipe threading machine, bend pipe using pipe bending tools and machineryAssemble and install variety of metal and non- metal pipes using threaded caulked, soldering, brazen, fused, or cemented joints and hand toolsPrepare pipe ends according to weld procedure and welder preferenceIncrease pressure in pipe system to test and observe connected pressure gaugeMay weld pipe supports structural steel membersMay observe production machines in assigned areas of manufacturing facility to detect malfunctionsRespiratory protection devices may be requiredResponsible for complying with all safety and project rulesMaintain and repair rotating and fixed equipment throughout the plantPromote and utilize 5-S standards for the line to improve efficiency, cleanliness and safetyPerform a number of PM’s under pipefitting dutiesOther duties may be assigned

Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent technical trainingOne to four years of experience in an industrial or similar environmentBasic Blueprint reading experience required.As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a 6G Welding test, which includes both Vertical Stick and Tig Welding, and receive the corresponding certificate within six (6) months from your start date.
