Industrial Engineer

Description

The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for analyzing the operating environment and identifying process inefficiencies and wastes of time, money, materials and energy. They will need to conduct time and motion studies and conceptualize improvements and assists in developing business cases for the updates and changes. This company specializes in machining and manufacturing parts for the defense and aerospace industry. This position is excellent for an engineer who wants to get into engineering leadership down the road or an engineer who wants more responsibility because they will be working fairly independently. They will also get exposure to several manufacturing processes - assembly, machining, welding.

They may be the one to implement new and enhanced processes and tools when needed. In the future, they may be asked to design the layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. On new processes and processes that are already in place, they will be analyzing and planning workforce utilization, space requirements and workflow.

Day to day responsibilities:

-Develop labor standards by analyzing work samples and methods while measuring work performance

-Improve labor utilization by studying work methods, testing modifications, designing new methods and recommending job restructuring

-Improve workflow by studying process flow charts; recommending modifications in workflow, work stations and product, developing new procedures; recommending equipment modifications and purchases

-Reduce waste by studying methods, equipment, and operator techniques; recommending changes; identifying and analyzing waste

-Implement work improvement programs by working closely with management and engineering staff

-Prepare work-analysis information and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends

-Complete work improvement projects by training and guiding operators and supervisors

-Maintain operations guidelines by writing and updating policies, procedures and methods

Additional Skills & Qualifications

MUST HAVE:

- Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering Degree

- Industrial Engineering experience as it relates to machining

- Experience doing time studies and reducing cycle times

- Lean Manufacturing experience

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
