Role Outline
•\tDelivers assigned CI projects to improve loss-making sites and contracts by enhancing productivity through process redesign and improvement.•\tSupports contractual requirements for continuous improvement (cost reduction) using the same methods.•\tIdentifies best practices available to DHL in terms of processes, equipment, and tools for regional replication.•\tSupports the implementation of standardization and productivity improvement initiatives.•\tBe a recognized subject matter expert on industrial engineering topics, with a good understanding of site/campus operations.•\tAddress identified safety issues through improvements in processes or equipment.•\tDeliver CI initiatives with clear and measurable targets.•\tDevelop CI Case Studies and share them with the business as needed.•\tUtilize First Choice tools like PRS & DMAIC to drive CI projects at sites.•\tCollaborate effectively with the OMS CI team, site teams, and site/campus management to achieve results.•\tConduct time studies and data analysis to support CI initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations:
•\tProvide engineering support to operations through analysis, process mapping, optimisation, and standardisation.•\tCapture and communicate (comparative) productivity and cost indices.•\tUse standard industrial engineering techniques in facilities, as appropriate, to optimise operations.•\tCompare operational productivities against expected levels and identify causes of variation.•\tProvide support for implementation of operational changes.•\tEnsure that standardised processes and best practices are designed and implemented.•\tSupport the roll-out of strategic priority programs where engineering skills are needed.•\tWork alongside IT specialists to analyse, collate, and develop process logic that fits into the system template, allowing it to function as expected.•\tWork with the OMS CI community to identify areas of waste and support its removal or reduction.
Customer Management:
•\tHelp internal customers understand how proposed operations or operational changes will affect service performance and/or cost.•\tBecome a trusted advisor to internal customers by demonstrating a good knowledge of operations and engineering principles.
People Management:
•\tGain knowledge of good practices and ideas from outside the organization and publicize them within.•\tTrain, coach, and mentor individuals on sites to become site CI Champions.
Qualifications & ExperienceEducation:
•\tIndustrial Engineering qualification is essential.•\tSix Sigma Green Belt / First Choice Master Bronze/Silver.•\tMembership of relevant institutions and other sources of expertise.•\tProven advanced ability to use MS Office tools, such as MS Excel, MS Word, etc.
Experience:
•\t3 or more years of experience is required.•\tWorking in a culturally diverse environment.•\tFamiliarity with existing DHL operations within geographical scope.•\tWorking in a challenging environment with targets and deadlines.•\tWell-developed understanding of project management tools and processes.•\tChange and relationship management skills, combined with strong communication skills (verbal, written, graphic).•\tThe application of continuous improvement concepts and elements, including Six Sigma.•\tWorking with engineering tools such as value stream mapping, work study methodology, etc.•\tStrong background in relevant mathematical modelling and statistical analysis.•\tRelevant within the Cluster/Country.
