Job Description
Position Summary: The Industrial Engineer is responsible for supporting various Wawa departments with development of efficient processes, evaluation of equipment, study and analysis of key systems, and design of critical work cells and store layout concepts. The Industrial Engineer uses a process engineering approach to drive improvements which reduce complexity, lower operating costs, improve labor productivity, maximize throughput capacity, and enhance customer speed of service.
Principal DutiesAssist in the development of processes and store-level procedures that will improve productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction.Champion process improvements and is responsible for the application and evaluation of the latest technologies to enhance store operating systems, work cell layouts, and equipment.Support and assist training in the development and refinement of training materials and job aids as well as in the communication of new methods and processes within Wawa.Support Marketing, Store Operations, Product Development, Store Effectiveness, and Strategic Sourcing initiatives through participation in cross-functional team projects. Specifically, Operations Engineering will:Study and analyze impact of labor and efficiency utilizing time study methodologyTest new products and define proper cooking methods to meet product quality standardsTest and evaluate new equipment for feasibility, durability, energy consumption, and product qualityTest and evaluate critical supplies for Food Service and BeveragesDefine capacity needs for Store Operations to meet customer demandDevelop layout concepts for new store designOptimize backroom and storage needsDefine and measure key operating metricsAnalyze and assist in problem solvingIdentify and alleviate customer bottlenecksStreamline complex functionsBenchmark for excellenceReport results to cross-functional teams and members of management through Engineering reports or formal presentations. Ensure that Operations Engineering functions are conducted on a timely basis through the creation of action plans to deliver targeted goal to internal customers. Ensure that resources are used to produce accurate, practical, and actionable resultsTravel to stores to study processes, support roll-out of key programs, and drive changeEssential Functions:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required; Industrial Engineering preferredHighly proficient with Microsoft ExcelDemonstrated understanding of process design and time study methodsStrong observation and problem solving skillsExperience with AutoCAD and/or Mechanical Drafting preferredExperience in 3D Modeling preferredWawa will provide reasonable accommodation to complete an application upon request, consistent with applicable law.
