Industrial Automation Engineer (all genders) 

 

Join our interdisciplinary team in the Engineering Radiology & Solvents department!
As an Industrial Automation Engineer (m/f/d), you are responsible for maintenance, development, and optimization of process control systems for our process plants. Based on your academic background in electrical or automation engineering, you handle programming, modifications, and documentation of automation systems – from basic design to operational lifecycle. You manage and lead technical projects (new builds/modifications), prepare requirement specifications, provide technical leadership, and oversee the qualification and commissioning of new or modified systems.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Together with your team, you ensure the technical availability of process control systems (PCS) in our facilities and buildings through continuous monitoring of operational conditions (e.g., malfunctions, weaknesses, maintenance activities, and bottlenecks), and drive ongoing improvementYou create specifications for automation, process control, electrical, and instrumentation & control systemsThrough coordinated actions, implementation of appropriate measures, and regular reviews, you ensure that all activities and processes are compliant with PPS, HSE, and GMP requirementsYou make well-informed decisions on necessary technical actions in close collaboration with your team, always considering cost-effectivenessYou develop concepts, advise operations management on technical matters, and actively contribute to new production ideas and PCS-related topics within API manufacturingBy implementing innovative technical solutions, you help shape the digitalization of our plantsYou design and implement measures for continuous process improvement in line with operational excellence principles, encourage cross-functional knowledge transfer, and leverage best practice solutionsAs part of the Turnaround Management Team, you contribute to minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous product supply within the Radiology business unit

WHO YOU ARE

You have a Master’s degree in electrical or automation engineering or a related field; alternatively, you have a Bachelor’s degree combined with extensive professional experience in the above areasYour several years of professional experience in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry allow you to apply your expertise effectivelyYou possess in-depth knowledge in automation and electrical engineering, including PCS field device technology (hardware/software, IT networks, electrical installations, explosion protection), and are well-versed in applicable regulatory requirements (PPS/HSE/GMP)Ideally, you have experience with PCS7You have a confident and composed appearanceYou thrive in collaborative team environmentsYou demonstrate flexibility, strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, and you are result- and cost-orientedFluency in both German and English, written and spoken, completes your profile
