This includes protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe, and helping find cures for cancer. \n\n \n\nLocation \n\nBudapest \n \n\nHow will you make an impact? \n\nThe Sourcing Specialist plays a crucial role in shaping and executing sourcing strategies along the Purchase-to-Pay process for the drug substance business. \n\nYour responsibilities will include leading sourcing events and overseeing project-related activities for various materials categories. By collaborating with cross-functional and cross-site teams, including sourcing, operations, supply chain, finance, and other key stakeholders, you will utilize procurement IT and spend analytics tools to gather and analyze data, identify potential suppliers, and conduct cost and scenario analyses. Your expertise will drive efficient procurement processes and contribute to the overall success of the organization. \n\n \n\nWhat will you do? \n\nGather and analyze data using procurement spend analytics tools. \n\nWork with the Market Intelligence team to research and identify potential suppliers for sourcing requests. \n\nPerform basic cost and scenario analysis to analyze supplier bids and inform sourcing strategies \n\nResearch potential vendors, develop and execute requests for proposals (RFPs). \n\nPartner with stakeholders to ensure clear user requirements documentation is translated to RFP and contracts as appropriate. \n\nMaintain procurement databases \n\nProcurement master data maintenance and support \n\nNegotiating offers with suppliers and converting purchase requisitions into SAP orders in consultation with technical department. \n\nMaintain automated process for technical stock orders. (Request price lists from suppliers and negotiate them. Creating and maintaining purchase info records. Consultation with Master Data team and local stock responsible) \n\nChecking order confirmations (especially delivery time, price) and updating data in SAP. \n\nClarifying of invoice deviations with PSG Payables team and local finance, and local requester (Catalyst). \n\nDrive continuous improvement of own Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions. \n\nProvide mentorship and guidance to junior Buy Desk Specialists on category-specific requirements. \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\nEducation \n\nRequires a bachelor’s degree in technical, manufacturing, engineering, or a related field. \n\nProven experience as a Buyer, Purchasing Specialist Agent, or Officer. \n\nAt least 3 years of work experience in sourcing. \n\nHigh level of English language proficiency (B2 or higher), both verbal and written. \n\n \n\nFor Budapest location \n\nHigh level of German language proficiency (B2 or higher), both verbal and written. \n\n \n\n \n\nExperience \n\nExperience with sourcing processes, vendor management, contract negotiations, and purchase-to-pay operations. \n\nExpertise in sourcing tools (e-sourcing, spend analytics, ERP (SAP, Ariba), supplier management software). \n\nNegotiation skills – will need to solicit bids and negotiate purchases directly with suppliers. Experience across various sourcing categories. \n\nAbility to gather, interpret, and analyze data to inform sourcing decisions. \n\nAble to work with documented assumptions and extrapolate insights from incomplete or limited data sets. \n\nConsistently delivers accurate results under tight time constraints (e.g., typically within 5 business days from material inquiry to quotation delivery for internal stakeholders). \n\nAgility and flexibility to develop expertise across sourcing categories in areas complementary to the existing team. \n\nExcellent communication skills for structuring ideas clearly and concisely. \n\nDemonstrates entrepreneurial thinking and scenario planning (“what-if” analysis). \n\nApplies a mindset of operational excellence focused on continuous improvement (“find a better way, every day”). \n\nStrong customer service orientation and attention to detail aligned with high standards of quality and excellence. \n\nExperience in a continuous improvement environment. \n\nExperience in a chemical or pharma manufacturing background is a plus \n\nDesire to mentor and coach junior team members. \n\n \n\nBenefits: \n\nWe offer competitive remuneration, annual incentive plan bonus scheme, healthcare, company pension, and a range of employee benefits! \n\nThermo Fisher Scientific offers employment with an innovative, forward-thinking organization, and outstanding career and development prospects.
