What You’ll Work On

Responsible for sampling and testing ingredients and packaging materials, as to comply with quality procedures and assuring specifications and quality guidelines are met. Implementing the effectiveness of the quality system including maintaining commodity lot trace file labels for and Kosher schedule A updates, and new ingredients for Kosher schedule B complianceProperly sampling ingredients and packaging materials, including certified supplier quarterly and annual monitoring as applicable Analytical analysis of the ingredients and physical evaluation of the packaging materials as defined by testing proceduresMonitoring the schedule and releasing ingredients and packaging materials before they are needed for production or on the lineMinor trouble shooting of equipment with some assistance from Incoming Chemist III and supervisionThe incumbent will recognize and report method procedure problems out of specification conditions, or other anomalies to be brought to the attention of supervisionInput of quality data into quality/inventory computer systems including MITS, AMAPS, and LIMSPlacing commodities on hold where called, maintaining a hold list and pursuing final disposition of commodities on hold through destruction or release based on justification and approvalSubmitting Supplier Event Notifications to Supplier QARoutine interactions with inventory planning and materials management receiving areas, to assure ingredients and packaging materials are evaluated and released to meet the production scheduleUpdating plant procedures to meet new Policies and accurately reflect practices

You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma (or equivalent) required plus 1 year of college science (e.g. chemistry) with appropriate labs and 1 year of college math (algebra, geometry, trigonometry or calculus)Or High school diploma (or equivalent) plus 2 years of equivalent plant QA lab experience at an Abbott Nutrition facility

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Math, or closely related technical field.Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals.

The base pay for this position is $18.65 – $37.35 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
