Import Export Logistics Coordinator

Airswift is looking for an Ocean Freight & Customer Service Coordinator to work on a permanent contract in Suriname with a logistics and freight forwarding company. Candidates must be based in Suriname.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Contact current and potential customers via telemarketing to support business development and generate new/repeat business.

Deliver prompt, professional customer service by responding to queries, sending accurate quotes, and following up on shipments.

Prepare accurate documentation for outgoing ocean freight and ensure timely delivery to customers.

Coordinate and monitor all types of import shipments with international agents and ensure timely cargo movement and updates.

Liaise with agents worldwide to secure the best rates and routes for cargo.

Support the Sales Team with administrative tasks, customer leads, and shipment feedback.

Assist in resolving customer queries related to delays, rates, missing cargo, or documentation.

Work with customs brokers, insurance, and credit departments to ensure all paperwork, insurance, and approvals are in place.

Coordinate weekly LCL consolidation, ensuring proper documentation is received on time.

Enter and manage shipment details in logistics software (Magaya), including Bills of Lading, cargo labeling, and final shipping documents.

Support container booking, loading schedules, and liaise with warehouse and haulers for timely dispatch and delivery.

Provide documentation and declaration for Dangerous Goods if certified, and coordinate insurance as required.

Maintain close collaboration with Customs, Sales, Warehouse, and Collections departments to ensure seamless shipping and billing processes.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the cargo, logistics, or freight forwarding industry.

Five HAVO/GCE/CXC passes, including Mathematics and English.

A course in Freight Forwarding or Logistics is desirable.

Proficiency in logistics systems (e.g., Magaya), Microsoft Office, and other industry tools.

Knowledge of ocean freight operations, customs procedures, and documentation requirements.

Must be fluent in Dutch and English.

Strong customer service and communication skills.

Familiarity with GPS/GIS or geographic knowledge is an asset.

Dangerous Goods handling certification is a plus.
