Job Description
Import Coordinator would be responsible for performing import operations and import customer service duties to process the documentation necessary for import freight to clear US Customs and delivered to the final consignee in a timely and safe manner in accordance with governmental regulations. A large portion of this position is ownership of HTS codes and the classification process and documentation. They work with Freight Forwarders, Brokers, warehouse staff, vendors, and internal purchasing teams. The Import Coordinator helps with shipping, receiving, and recordkeeping for international transactions. Most of their working day is spent in an office atmosphere as they provide support and verify that transactions adhere to import policies and regulations.

Essential Functions:
HTS code classificationCoordinates with Freight Forwarders and partners to ensure import shipments are properly documented.Coordinate and distribute all documentation for incoming consolidations and direct shipments.Oversee freight forwarders, understand various modes of transportation, for the most efficient and timely movement of freight forwarding and delivery.Ensure that all documents required by U.S. Customs regulations are correct and complete to include customer compliance coordinated with Import BrokerSet up all necessary arrangements indicated on Advance Information for the smooth movement of import freight.Perform customer service duties with correspondence to customers and overseas partners via email or phone.Assist in the implementation of customer service policies and procedures to ensure that the service that is being provided is of the appropriate standard and level.Maintain procedural control of import processes ensuring compliance with customs and government regulations and maintaining accurate records of all transactions.Track and log shipmentsQualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred.Previous experience with HTS codesMinimum 1-3 years of ocean, air, and international logistics experienceA quick learner with a “Can-Do” attitude and strong prioritization skillsExceptional customer service skillsSolid understanding of the international forwarding business for both Ocean & Air Imports.Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Ability to learn new software.Additional information
