Element has an exciting opportunity for a Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) Level II IUT Technician. In this role, you will perform Immersion Ultrasonic Testing using automated UT equipment in our fast-paced NDE laboratories across the Americas, ensuring all work meets or exceeds industry and customer specifications. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, hands-on professional who thrives in a collaborative, high-performance environment.
Salary: $20- $30/hour (depending on experience) + Shift Differential Available
Responsibilities
Inspection & Testing
Perform immersion ultrasonic inspections using approved techniques, procedures, and reference standards.
Interpret, evaluate, and document inspection results to determine acceptance or rejection according to specifications.
Adjust ultrasonic equipment and transducers to optimize signal quality and inspection coverage.
Procedure Compliance
Follow established NDE procedures and applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
Maintain calibration of ultrasonic equipment in accordance with documented schedules and quality system requirements.
Documentation & Reporting
Complete inspection reports, record test data, and maintain traceability documentation.
Communicate findings to supervisors, engineers, and quality teams as required.
Safety & Quality
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Adhere to all company safety procedures, including handling of test materials and chemicals.
Continuous Improvement
Participate in training, skills development, and process improvement initiatives.
Recommend enhancements to inspection procedures and equipment to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Travel - Travel to Element facilities to assist in programming fully automated systems, provide production while evaluating and training staff around them, have the aptitude to mentor, train, and explain specification Skills / QualificationsEducation & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
Minimum 80 hour UT school certificate (meet Element Standards).Minimum of 800 hours of documented NDE experience in Ultrasonic Testing, including immersion methods, at Level I or higher is a plus.
Be willing to travel to other locations to work onsiteCertifications
Current Level II certification in Ultrasonic Testing (IUT) per ASNT SNT-TC-1A, NAS 410, or equivalent.
Additional NDE method certifications (e.g., PT, MT) preferred but not required.
Technical Skills
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Strong understanding of ultrasonic principles, immersion techniques, and defect characterization.
Familiarity with applicable industry standards such as ASTM, AWS, ASME, and AMS.
Soft Skills
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Manual dexterity to handle precision instruments and parts.
Good vision (natural or corrected) and hearing to meet NDE requirements.
Work EnvironmentManufacturing and laboratory settings with occasional exposure to noise, chemicals, and temperature variations.
May require occasional overtime or shift work to meet production schedules.
