**Description**
JOB SUMMARY
Using radiological (X-ray) imaging equipment and standards, the Imaging Technologist – Mammography prepares and performs procedures and tests used to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data under close to moderate supervision. By interviewing and preparing patients with an in-depth understanding of the equipment and procedures, this role ensures effective, safe use of this equipment and drives optimal care outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
+ Prepares and performs radiological (X-ray) imaging of the breast (mammography).
+ Reads and comprehends imaging order, engaging with physician when order is unclear, complex or warrants deeper review. Selects appropriate scanning protocols and imaging parameters using knowledge of human anatomy.
+ Interviews patients to understand risk factors that may warrant a more in-depth examination for safety.
+ Guides patients, some distressed, through their examination, applying subject matter expertise and cultural competency to explain the exam. Sets expectations and calms patients for effective imaging.
+ Uploads imaging results into Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). Records information into Electronic Medical Recordkeeping (EMR) system.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
+ Graduate of an accredited program in Radiological Science
+ One (1) year of experience working in a clinical imaging role
+ Good understanding of human anatomy - can be established through education or experience
+ Experience reading and interpreting radiology orders
+ Experience working with a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred
+ Experience performing stereotactic guided breast biopsies and/or contrast enhanced mammography
+ Advanced certification in Mammography (ARRT-M) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
+ Experience working with EPIC EMR
