Program Overview
TRIAEM LLC is supporting a subcontract on an Intelligence Community program that provides expertise in Test Center operations, test tool automation and development, and image quality services.
About the Role
TRIAEM is seeking a motivated Synthetic Aperture RADAR (SAR) Image Scientist to join a skilled team supporting a mission focused on product quality. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with subject matter experts, work directly with government customers, and contribute to projects with a high degree of autonomy.
The SAR Image Scientist will support activities such as product evaluations, quality studies, new product initializations, algorithm assessments, and the development of image quality equations to model and quantify system performance under varying parameters. The position requires a strong background in modeling image formation paths—including sensor, detector, atmospheric, and material effects—as well as simulation and algorithm documentation for software development. Experience with GEOINT systems, exploitation tools, and test/verification methods is key. The selected candidate will work alongside an established team to address customer-driven priorities. Strong communication, collaboration, and a proven record of results are essential.
Key Responsibilities
+ Perform sensor modeling and decompose image formation elements to evaluate system quality.
+ Assess algorithms to determine product performance for specific mission applications.
+ Conduct baseline assessments for system initialization and monitor performance over time.
+ Analyze detected errors/artifacts and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
Required Qualifications
+ Active Top Secret clearance (must be eligible for TS/SCI with polygraph).
+ Bachelor’s degree in Image Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
+ 5+ years of relevant experience with a BS/BA, or 3+ years with an MS/MA.
+ Demonstrated experience with SAR imagery and complex data products.
+ Proficiency in image processing and digital signal processing.
+ Strong understanding of image chain analysis (sensor modeling, calibration, signal/noise analysis, image formation).
+ Experience coding in C, Python, MATLAB, or IDL for algorithm development and repeatable processes.
+ Applied knowledge of error estimation methods.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills, including briefing and technical documentation.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Skills
+ Knowledge of NSG tasking, collection, processing, exploitation, and dissemination (TCPED), with emphasis on SAR imagery.
+ Experience in DoD or IC operational environments.
+ Familiarity with image quality standards (e.g., NIIRS), scales, metrics, and equations.
+ Expertise with sensor imaging systems, products, and exploitation workflows.
+ Understanding of systems engineering lifecycle, independent testing, and data verification.
