ICU Unit Services Tech Full-Time 36 Hour Rotating Faulkner


 

Job Summary

The Unit Service Technician provides a broad range of care and services to Patients, including but not to limited to EKG, phlebotomy, equipment cleaning, and stocking of rooms under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Performs a wide range of secretarial duties, including but not limited to organizing paper work, answering the phone, paging, and receiving of Emergency Department patients into the medi-tech computer system. Provides safe accurate transportation of patients throughout the hospital. Performs 1:1 sitting when necessary. The Unit Service Technician of the Emergency Department will also assure the practice of the Patient and Family Centered Care Model in an environment that exemplifies best practice.

Qualifications

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?

Licenses and Credentials
Basic Life Support [BLS] - Generic - HR Only required and Certified Nurse Aide [CNA] - State Specific Certification Board required or Emergency Medical Technician [EMT License] - Generic - HR Only required

Experience
ICU: 1 year experience as a medical technician or patient care assistant preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- ICU: • Staff adheres to all C.A.R.E. Standards • Basic clerical skills such as organizing paperwork, filing, answering telephones, paging • Performing technical skills (EKG, Accucheck, phlebotomy) • Ability to effectively speak, read and write using the English language • Ability to pass clinical competency, basic math and reading testing • Ability to perform basic math calculations and measurements, to measure height and weight, intake and output and calorie counts • Ability to accurately interpret and utilize basic medical terminology and abbreviations • Ability to enter and retrieve computerized information • Physical ability to push, transfer, and pull heavy loads throughout assigned shift • Physical ability to meet core job requirements in accordance with practice setting demands, for the patient populations regularly served • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact appropriately with nursing staff, patients, families/visitors, physicians, and other hospital staff • Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work • Ability to manage stress related to patient care issues and changing hospital climate and personnel issues.
