Iberia Fire Underwriter & Fire Business Expert European Underwriting Centre

The Continental Europe Underwriting Centre in Madrid is an integral part of Chubb's EMEA business. By joining Chubb's multilingual and multiline business in Madrid, you will support small and medium sized clients (and the brokers who serve them), in their own language.

The position reports directly to Iberia Team Leader with a dotted line to the Director EMEA Underwriting Centre.

Responsibilities

Serve as the Fire Line of Business Expert for all countries involved in the Underwriting Centre and as the Property Underwriter for Iberia, applying deep contract knowledge to interpret and negotiate terms, answer detailed coverage questions, and construct tailored programs that meet customer needs while maximizing profitability.Provide excellent service to brokers and be a key contact for external and internal stakeholders, including the local country, for business processed in the Underwriting Centre. Underwrite, evaluate, and price risks in accordance with Chubb guidelines and underwriting authority, aligning coverage with risk by evaluating customer and broker needs, balancing Chubb’s strategies with local market requirements, and innovating solutions for complex property risks.Work closely with underwriting and sales teams to ensure portfolio sustainability, manage a portfolio by identifying growth and retention opportunities, and implement strategies to optimize profitability and performance.Promote Chubb’s offering and exploit cross-selling opportunities, demonstrating sales acumen by understanding broker and client needs, providing valued solutions, and supporting business development initiatives.Review and adapt underwriting offers, leading contract negotiations with brokers and developing creative, mutually beneficial solutions that satisfy all parties.Support brokers handling small and medium size enterprises by maintaining good commercial relationships, providing quality service, and meeting deadlines by phone and email, with occasional visits as necessary. Ensure effective management of policies throughout their life cycle, using critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze complex risks, define optimal solutions, and support policy management.Cooperate with internal departments such as Operations, Claims, and Small and Middle Market Segments leaders, building relationships and collaborating across functions to achieve business objectives.Support all developments necessary to achieve our business strategies, using opportunity management to identify and prioritize business opportunities aligned with Chubb’s goals.Conduct loss analysis by interpreting claims loss data and trends to assess product performance and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.

Requirements and Skills

Focused on technical growth in Fire LOB with international projection. Extensive experience as a Property UW (minimum 10 years); prior experience in another line of business is desirable.Native in Spanish and a good level of English.Bachelor’s degree.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, to build and sustain long-term relationships with brokers and stakeholders.Strong attention to detail, adherence to deadlines, and willingness to deliver and improve the quality of our offerings, demonstrating premium service and prioritization of work.Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, and Word) and the ability to leverage technology for underwriting and operational efficiency.
