Job Description:

GDIT is seeking an IBD-SS Field Service Engineer/Technician to support engineering and technical services of Force Protection Systems (FPS) Family of Systems (FOS) to the IBD-SS program with operations located in SWA.

As an IBD-SS Field Service Technician/Engineer one will perform maintenance, training, and work closely with military customers. Successful candidates will support our customers in creating capabilities and providing technical services, subject matter expertise, and software solutions and services for platforms such as the Integrated Base Defense (IBD) Kitting.


As an IBD-SS Field Service Engineer/Technician the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of PM FPS. You will play a critical role in supporting the Warfighter.

How the Field Service Engineer/Technician will make an impact:

Perform maintenance, training, mechanical, electronics, and IT Networking related sustainment 

Performing installs, de-installs, testing systems and components, and performing Preventive Maintenance actions on a variety of systems belonging to the Elevated Sensors family of systems.

Fault detection, isolation, and correction of hardware systems and individual components

Routine system maintenance and analysis functions including hardware configurations; adding, removing, and replacing hardware components; use of hardware and software diagnostic testing tools; reading of electronic circuit schematics; and repairing printed circuit boards

Performs sustainment and PMCS maintenance on the towers and payloads

Performs site surveys to determine type and placement of systems

Isolate and correct software

Role requirements:

Bring your expertise as experience performing mechanical, electronics, and IT Networking tasks as well as skills performing installs, de-installs, testing systems and components, and performing preventive maintenance actions on a variety of systems belonging to the Elevated Sensors family of systems

AA/AS with 2-5 years of experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of the degree. (6 years of relevant experience)

A strong background in IT networks and Network Security is preferred.

Experience utilizing COLTS (or similar such as RCLS) and operating within the GCSS-A environment

Import/Export (ITAR/EXIM) compliance experience

Must have experience in fault detection, isolation, and correction of hardware systems and individual components

Must have knowledge of and experience in the operations of hardware systems and components

Bending, Carrying, Climbing, Define Color, Depth Perception, Field of Vision, Hearing High Noise Levels, Medium Work – Normal Requirements Lift 50 lbs., Reaching, Requires Personal Protective Equipment, Speaking, Standing, Work Area Subject to Vibration, Work Includes Visual Inspections Working around Hazards, working both Inside and Outside, Working with Computers/CRTs

Must possess an active U.S. SECRET clearance, valid driver’s license, and current U.S. passport (minimum 2 years validity and 4 blank pages); must also meet all medical deployment requirements through CRC.

Support personnel and customer will be based out of Djibouti, HOA on 84 hours work week, 12 hours per day, 7 days per week, however personnel is expected to travel within SWA as required by mission

On Customer Site Full Time, may travel via military/commercial conveyances to outlying areas to support mission

Must be capable of meeting standards of fitness for deployment to the SWA of Operations and be able to withstand physical demands of seasonal hot or cold temperatures and willing to live and operate in an austere environment with the ability to meeting physical demands of the position  that can included but not limited to: ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, kneel, squat, stand and other physical requirements to meet the position

Must be able to successfully be capable of meeting standards of fitness for deployment to the SWA of Operation yearly while residing on contract in SWA

Must have required PPE equipment required for SWA

The likely salary range for this position is $69,264 - $92,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
