Job Title: I/E Designer Location: Katy, TX Type: Contract To Hire Compensation: $40 - $75 hourly Contractor Work Model: Onsite Hours: 8-5 M-F Position: I/E Designer Location: Onsite Job Type: Full-Time Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative I/E Designer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in electrical and instrumentation drafting to create accurate, comprehensive 2D and 3D CAD models that support our engineering projects. Key Responsibilities + Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and design teams to interpret specifications, sketches, and verbal instructions into precise AutoCAD drawings and 3D models. + Produce detailed electrical and instrumentation drawings, including junction boxes, control panels, plan layouts, and other critical engineering documentation. + Develop, update, and maintain project documentation in compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and company policies. + Create and sustain an organized CAD library focused on electrical and instrumentation components for reusability and efficiency. + Ensure all drawings accurately convey design intent, are free of errors, and meet project deadlines. + Establish foundational design files and coordinate with cross-departmental teams to validate design accuracy and clarity. + Adhere to safety and environmental standards, especially when working at customer sites under varying conditions. + Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance drafting standards, tools, and workflows. Qualifications & Skills + Education: High school diploma or equivalent; an associate’s degree or trade school certification in computer-aided drafting preferred. + Experience: 5+ years in drafting complex electrical and instrumentation designs; experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD 3D, and AutoCAD 2020 or later. + Technical Skills: + Proficiency in AutoCAD, with knowledge of drafting standards such as layers, scales, dimensions, and plotting. + Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Teams). + Knowledge of NEC codes, electrical & instrument symbols, and standards is a plus. + Experience with CADWorx/ElectroWorx and related tools is advantageous. + Additional Skills: + Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and a thorough, methodical approach. + Excellent communication skills and team collaboration. + Ability to interpret technical specifications and work independently.
