Type: Contract, 12-months
Compensation: $77 - $130 hourly

Overview: We are seeking a motivated and experienced I&C (Instrumentation and Controls) Senior Lead Engineer to join a dynamic non-safety instrumentation and controls team. This pivotal role involves overseeing and refining the design and integration of advanced control systems for Sodium Fast Reactor technologies. You will report directly to the Non-Safety I&C Manager and collaborate with a diverse team of scientists and engineers, both internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Serve as a primary engineering team member for the design, prototype development, and testing of instrumentation and control systems for Sodium Fast Reactor technologies.
+ Collaborate with geographically dispersed design team members, ensuring the development of comprehensive design documentation that meets project requirements.
+ Lead and mentor I&C Lead Designers and supporting electrical systems throughout all stages of the project lifecycle, from defining functional requirements to delivering final design outputs.
+ Facilitate the implementation of an integrated control system using Curtiss Wright RTIME HSI components and RTP controllers.
+ Conduct engineering and design evaluations ensuring compliance with nuclear codes, licensing requirements, and NRC regulations.
+ Provide technical direction and guidance to engineers regarding applicable nuclear and non-nuclear design standards.
+ Engage in the development and review of detailed design deliverables for both system and component levels.
+ Support the planning and tracking of project schedules using Primavera P6, and contribute to strategic planning for departmental non-safety I&C work scope.
+ Coordinate with suppliers and oversee projects, ensuring that technical reviews and deliverables align with project standards.
+ Promote continuous learning and the application of industry best practices, proactively identifying opportunities for process enhancements and improvements.
+ Interface with licensing activities related to Safety Analysis Reports to ensure compliance and operational readiness.
Key Qualifications and Skills:
+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in Controls, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university.
+ 15+ years of direct experience in instrumentation and controls systems, showcasing proven technical expertise.
+ Demonstrated experience in industrial I&C platform design development, testing, and commissioning, particularly with commercially available distributed control systems.
+ Leadership experience in managing or supervising I&C project scopes, ensuring timely and quality deliverables.
+ Proficiency with RTIME PPC systems and RTP I/O configurations is preferred.
+ Familiarity with relevant IEEE and IEC standards applicable to I&C systems, as well as experience developing Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&ID) and control narratives.
+ Knowledge of nuclear reactor safety systems and quality assurance standards related to nuclear power plant design is a plus.
+ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, coupled with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to technical excellence.
+ Ability to navigate complex projects with multiple objectives and design constraints, providing effective solutions.
