Reporting to the Hydrogeologist, you will be responsible for the management of dewatering boreholes, piezometers, and other hydrological infrastructure on the Mine. He/she is also responsible for collection of Hydrological monitoring data as directed by the Hydrogeologist
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Carry out work in compliance to relevant procedures and Zambian regulatory requirements
Assist site investigation and ground geophysics surveys.
Prepare drilling pads for dewatering, horizontal and piezometer boreholes
Supervise the drilling of dewatering boreholes and installation of dewatering pumps in the boreholes.
Carry out surface and groundwater sampling for Hydrochemistry, microbiology and isotope analysis.
Ensure all boreholes are inspected and operational on a daily basis.
Collection of data during test pumping.
Carry out borehole camera surveys.
Monitor daily water levels in pumping and observation boreholes.
Monitor pump hours in in-pit pumps and boreholes.
Monitor flowmeters in in-pit pumps and boreholes.
Daily monitoring of rainfall in all rain gauges and weather stations.
Replacing faulty or operational borehole pumps
Supervise the drilling and installation of piezometers for pore pressure monitoring.
Seepage mapping from pit wall faces.
Data collections from vibrating wire piezometers and standpipe piezometers.
Supervise hydrological drilling, and installation of monitoring equipment with an emphasis on a high level of safety and quality.
Collection of ground water monitoring data from piezometers.
Assist the hydrogeology team with dam audits and pit inspection.
Maintenance of pore pressure monitoring instrumentation.
Continually improve hydrogeological skills by working through the Hydrogeological technician skills matrix and seeking guidance and mentorship from the Hydrogeology Team.
Maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders in LMC’s mining activities, consistent with Barricks’s community Relations Policies
Ensure effective communication with delegate prior departure from site

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate
Experience in open pit working with dewatering boreholes
Minimum Two (2) years’ working experience.
Experience in plumbing works is added advantage
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
