**Service Technician – Job Description**
A **Service Technician** is an experienced field professional responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems. This role typically includes a mix of hands‑on technical work, customer interaction, mentoring junior technicians, and ensuring high‑quality service delivery.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ **Perform advanced diagnostics** on HVAC, refrigeration, or mechanical systems.
+ **Troubleshoot and repair** equipment failures using technical expertise and manufacturer guidelines.
+ **Conduct preventive maintenance** to improve system performance and reduce downtime.
+ **Install, commission, and test** new equipment or system upgrades.
+ **Provide technical guidance** and mentoring to junior or apprentice technicians.
+ **Document service activities** , including parts used, work performed, and recommendations.
+ **Maintain strong customer relationships** , explaining findings and solutions professionally.
+ **Interpret schematics and technical manuals** for complex systems.
+ **Ensure compliance** with safety procedures, regulations, and company standards.
+ **Recommend system improvements** or replacement solutions based on customer needs.
**Typical Qualifications**
+ Extensive hands‑on field experience in HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical service, or a related trade.
+ Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
+ Technical certifications (HVAC licenses) depending on region.
+ Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
+ Proficiency with service tools, diagnostic equipment, and digital work order systems.
