Job Title: HVAC Technician

Job Description

The HVAC Technician role involves performing intermediate-level maintenance work in steam fitting, heating-ventilation-air conditioning (HVAC), or refrigeration (HVAC-R). This position requires executing maintenance tasks such as construction, preventative maintenance, improvements, and repairs to buildings, fixtures, and mechanical equipment. While the role does not involve supervising other employees, there may be occasions where guidance and direction to other unskilled or skilled maintenance workers is necessary.

Responsibilities

Make repairs and alterations to equipment and building structures.Repair steam pipes and fittings.Repair refrigerator motors, doors, shelves, and wiring in the refrigeration trade.Maintain and repair air-conditioning units.Check and maintain HVAC equipment, change belts, and filters.Clean, oil, and lubricate electrical and mechanical equipment and machines.Inspect buildings and grounds to ensure adherence to safety and sanitary regulations.Operate automobiles, forklifts, pick-up and panel trucks, vans, and tractors.Provide guidance and assistance to unskilled and semi-skilled workers when necessary.Perform preventative maintenance and repair on air handlers, exhaust supply, return fans and motors, circulating pumps and motors, VAV boxes, unit heaters, fan coil units, and make-up air units.Perform other duties and functions appropriate to the position as assigned.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in HVAC troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance.Experience in preventative maintenance.Facilities and mechanical service knowledge.3-5 years of experience in the trade.Apprenticeship completion or equivalent experience.High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Ability to operate specialized equipment.Capability to work at extreme heights or within confined spaces.Physical ability to lift, carry, push, and pull moderate weights up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

The work may be performed in a standard office setting with frequent travel to various locations to respond to urgent requests or critical incidents. The work environment can range from indoors to outdoors, and employees may be exposed to extreme heat or cold. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud due to alarms and equipment noise. Employees are subject to emergency call-out at any time and may work extended hours, including evenings and weekends. Work often involves being at heights up to 15 stories above ground or within confined spaces.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
