Job Title: HVAC Service Technician

Job Description

The HVAC Service Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial and residential HVAC systems. This role requires a deep understanding of refrigeration theory, electrical schematics, pneumatic and electronic control systems, pipe fitting, welding, brazing, and mechanical layouts. The technician will ensure quality and safety while providing services to commercial clients.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC systems.Read and interpret blueprints, wiring, and piping diagrams, and engineering specifications.Use hand and power tools for system installation and repair.Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, with a preference for VAV/VVT experience.Operate refrigerant recovery equipment, vacuum pumps, charging equipment, and service gauges.Conduct routine maintenance and ensure systems meet compliance with plans and specifications.Perform overhauls and start-ups of commercial HVAC systems.Record temperature, pressure, and other readings on log sheets at specified intervals.Document work by completing necessary paperwork and maintaining files.Stay updated on manufacturers' products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair.Work varying schedules and shifts, including overtime, weekends, or on-call hours as needed.Travel to commercial sites as required, with a company vehicle provided for home use.

Essential Skills

Proficient in mechanical and electrical repair and service.Skilled in troubleshooting at the component level.Experience with HVAC systems, including VAV/VVT systems.Knowledgeable in building controls, including ATC Temperature Electronic and Pneumatic controls.Ability to use hand tools and follow blueprints and diagrams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with assembly, construction, installation, electronics, power tools, and wiring.Strong documentation skills for maintaining work records.Excellent attention to detail and adherence to quality and safety standards.

Work Environment

This is a field-based role with travel to commercial sites. Technicians are provided with a company vehicle for site visits and may be required to work varying schedules, including overtime and weekend shifts, to meet business needs. The position demands frequent physical activities such as stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, climbing, standing, walking, reaching, and gripping. Material handling includes lifting from floor level to overhead. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilmington, DE.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
