What You'll Do As an HVAC Technician, you will perform advanced-level work to maintain the service life of physical structures, HVAC equipment, mechanical systems, utilities, and grounds. You’ll support daily operations at the new Scotts Hill facility, with occasional travel to neighboring Novant Health locations. Your work ensures our environment remains reliable, efficient, and safe, contributing directly to patient comfort and the quality of care we provide. + Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, mechanical, and refrigeration systems + Troubleshoot and repair building HVAC equipment to support patient care and comfort + Maintain appropriate air quality, temperature control, and ventilation throughout a 3-floor, 80-bed facility + Utilize and monitor building management and automation systems (BMS/controls) + Assist with general facility maintenance and participate in the on-call rotation + Respond to urgent issues quickly and professionally to maintain a safe, healing environment + Travel occasionally to nearby Novant Health facilities to provide maintenance support + Document all maintenance activities in accordance with regulatory and departmental standards + Collaborate with a supportive engineering team to ensure smooth daily operations What We're Looking For We’re seeking a dedicated professional who enjoys working with others, communicates well, and values long-term, stable employment in a mission-driven healthcare setting. The ideal candidate is dependable, solutions-focused, and motivated by creating a remarkable environment for patients, families, and team members. Qualifications Education + High school diploma or GED required + Two years of vocational HVAC training required Experience + 5+ years of commercial HVAC installation and maintenance required + Healthcare experience preferred Licensure / Certification + CFC Universal Certification (EPA Rule 608) required + Valid driver’s license in the state of employment (NC) Additional Skills Required + Strong working knowledge of life safety, mechanical, and building codes + Thorough understanding of chillers, chilled water systems, boilers, steam systems, cooling towers, and air distribution systems + Extensive experience with DDC controls and building automation systems + Ability to evaluate HVAC systems for performance and efficiency + Skilled in troubleshooting electrical, electronic, and mechanical issues using proper testing equipment + Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and blueprints Additional Skills Preferred + Working knowledge of electrical and electronic systems + Proficiency with PCs and related software Why Choose Novant Health?
