And, that’s something we’re truly proud of. _Work That Matters, People Who Care._ **Job Description** **WHAT'S THE JOB** Working at National Defence project sites, the HVAC-R & General Maintenance Technician is responsible for diagnostics, preventative and corrective maintenance, installation, and repair of HVAC-R and related building systems. This includes refrigeration equipment, boilers, heating systems, BAS controls, life safety devices, and associated facility equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations. **Key Responsibilities** + Perform planned preventative and reactive maintenance on HVAC and mechanical systems including HRVs, hot water tanks, boilers, furnaces, smoke and CO detectors, and air conditioning systems. + Conduct filter changes, coil cleaning, belt and pulley replacements, bearing and pump seal repairs, combustion testing, balancing, and system adjustments. + Diagnose and repair refrigeration and HVAC equipment, including leak detection and system testing. + Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, safety standards, TSSA requirements, and company procedures. + Conduct risk assessments and develop pre-work safety and job plans. + Review and manage assigned work orders using CMMS/work order software. + Estimate time and materials required for repairs and coordinate material ordering with planners. + Transport tools and materials to job sites as required. + Maintain professional and courteous communication with clients, contractors, vendors, and colleagues. + Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians and apprentices. **Skills & Abilities** + Ability to read mechanical, electrical, and control drawings. + Working knowledge of building automation, life safety, electrical, and environmental systems. + Strong organizational and task management skills. + Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively under time constraints. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills. + Ability to work independently and within a team environment. + Calm and professional demeanor in high-demand situations. + Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and CMMS systems. + Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. + Ability to follow oral and written instructions. + Must be eligible to obtain federal security clearance. **Qualifications** **WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?** + Red Seal 313A Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Certification required. + Gas Fitter 2 certification minimum (Gas Fitter 1 preferred). + Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP/ODS) certification. + Minimum 3 years of related experience. + Post-secondary technical education preferred. + Valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract. + Working at Heights certification. + Health & Safety Awareness Training. + WHMIS/MSDS Training. + First Aid certification considered an asset. + Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. **Working Conditions** + Frequent walking, bending, stooping, crawling, and reaching. + Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. + Comfortable working at heights and on ladders. + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. **Additional Information** **WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?** + Great working environment, supported by a centralized office team and technical field leads + Competitive Pay, Steady hours, OT available + Benefits and Pension Match programs available on Day 1 + Work truck, phone/tablet, tools outfitting, etc. + All commercial sites, no residential + Flexible scheduling, dispatch coordination to work close to home + On call rotation every 8 weeks, tenured technicians support technically Dexterra Group is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
