HVAC Mechanic

Job Details The HVAC Mechanic services and repairs air conditioning, environmental control system and refrigeration equipment utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pressure temperature relationships, pipe fitting, structural layout and control circuitry. Oversees all air conditioning and refrigeration repairs and installations to assure completed work is to code standards. Responsibilities: + Joins tubing or pipe to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings or unions and solders joints using torch, forming complete circuit for refrigerant. + Makes electrical connections and diagnosis of control circuitry using ohmmeters, voltage testers and amperage readers. + Installs and services solenoid valves, freeze-stats, ambient controls, pressure controls, timers and relays. + Checks and adds refrigerant to systems by using gauges, hoses, service valves, reclamation pumps, charging cylinders, thermometers and ammeters. Removes non-combustibles from refrigerant systems using vacuum pumps, manometers, reclamation pumps and gauges. Leak test refrigerant using halogen torches, electronic leak detector, liquid leak detector and nitrogen gas. + Repairs and services ice makers, dispensers and storage bins, including augers, evaporators, harvest controls, water regulating valves and water pressure controls. Replaces water filter cartridges and inhibitors. + Repairs and cleans air and water cooled condensing units and coils using compressed air, pressure sprayers, finned coil brushes and detergent. Replaces fan belts, shafts and bearings on air handling equipment and condensers. + Must be able to do light HVAC construction projects. Requirements: + High school diploma, equivalent or relevant experience. + Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License + Training in air conditioning equipment and repair + Minimum five (5) years’ experience with HVAC system + EPA certification preferred Salary Range Starting from USD $47.00/Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
