This opportunity is for a full-time **HVAC Mechanical Engineer** based in Fullerton, CA, supporting AC Install Department. The role is central to the design/build process for commercial and industrial HVAC systems, with a focus on energy efficiency, code compliance, and system performance. Key Areas of Focus - HVAC System Design**: Perform heat load calculations, duct and pipe sizing, and layout planning using EnergyPro software. - Title 24 Compliance**: Generate reports to ensure systems meet California’s energy efficiency standards. - Mechanical Drawings**: Collaborate with in-house CAD drafters to prepare construction-ready documents. - Code Compliance**: Apply knowledge of California building and mechanical codes and ASHRAE standards. - Vendor Coordination**: Work with HVAC equipment suppliers to gather technical specifications. - Field Work**: Conduct site visits to gather data for system design and validation. Daily Responsibilities: - Perform HVAC system calculations, layout planning, and Title 24 compliance using EnergyPro software. - Support project engineers with technical input throughout the proposal and construction phases. - Review and refine mechanical drawings for permitting and construction in collaboration with CAD drafters. - Conduct site job walks to gather field data and assess design feasibility. - Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to resolve design challenges and align on technical requirements. Projects are primarily ground-up construction, with systems including chillers, boilers, racks, ammonia systems, and ventilation. Most common HVAC systems: Boilers, chillers, ammonia systems, and related refrigeration systems are frequently installed and designed. The engineer will ensure compliance with ASHRAE standards and California mechanical/building codes, and will interact with the engineering manager and company president. OSHA 30 training is required (provided if not already held), and the primary service territory is Southern California. Success in this role directly impacts the company’s ability to fulfill new client projects, drive revenue, and support ongoing growth. EnergyPro software experience is a plus. OSHA 30 certification is required (company provides training if needed). Experience with boilers, chillers, ammonia systems, and government or Title 24 compliance is beneficial. Prior experience in construction, welding, or related trades is valued. Familiarity with RSD suppliers and large-scale refrigeration projects is helpful.
