Job Description:

Role Synopsis

This Critical position supports the operation and maintenance of bpx energy’s Permian power system, which provides electrical service to essential midstream facilities and upstream well pads. As a technician you will operate and maintain three 200MVA substations, one 140MVA substation, one 138kV breaker station, three 21.6kV switching/breaker stations, six miles of 138kV transmission line, 300 miles of medium voltage power distribution, all providing power to facility and field operations.

Key Accountabilities

Operate, monitor, and maintain high voltage electrical distribution systems using an Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient power delivery.Perform switching, isolating, and grounding of high/medium/low voltage systems.Execute preventative and corrective maintenance activities as directed by the work management system (SAP), including initiating notifications, completing work orders, and supporting the planning and scheduling of maintenance tasks.Respond to power outages and equipment breakdowns; participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).Provide oversight of contractor work to ensure compliance with bpx and regulatory standards.Support testing and commissioning of substations and switching stations.Collaborate with engineering to evaluate maintenance program performance and pursue predictive analytics.Ensure safe work practices in accordance with OSHA 1910.269 and NFPA 70E standards.Operate manlifts and other equipment safely and effectively.Comply with bpx’s Code of Conduct and model company values and behaviors.Seek knowledge in and encourage the use of new technology to further optimize facilities’ availability and reliability.

Essential Experience and Education

High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum 5 years of experience in oil & gas or a related industry.Proven experience in high voltage systems, substations, or lineman work.Familiarity with work management systems (SAP, Maximo, or similar).Strong understanding of electrical safety protocols and standards.Proficiency in mechanical systems, instrumentation, and automation.

Preferred Experience and Education

Journeyman lineman or substation electrician certification.Completion of a lineman or substation apprenticeship program.Associate’s degree in electrical technology or related field.Experience supporting large electric-driven compressors, dehydration units, heater treaters, LACT skids, and water injection systems.

How much do we pay (Base)? $104,000 - $122,000

Note that the pay range listed for this position is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
