Job Title: Human Resources Manager

The Human Resources Manager is the strategic and hands‑on HR leader for the manufacturing site. This role oversees all HR functions including employee relations, workers’ compensation, LOA/FMLA administration, staffing, training, performance management, compliance, and HR operations. The HR Manager partners closely with Operations and EHS leadership to drive a safe, legally compliant, and high‑performance culture while guiding leaders through effective people management practices. This position leads an HR team and serves as a trusted advisor to plant leadership.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & HR StrategyServe as the primary HR business partner to the Plant Manager and leadership team; provide data-driven recommendations that improve talent, culture, and operational performance.Lead, coach, and develop HR Generalists, Coordinators, and other HR support staff.Participate in site leadership meetings, providing insights on workforce planning, engagement, and compliance risks.Develop and execute HR initiatives aligned to safety, production, quality, and retention goals specific to the manufacturing environment.Drive DEI, organizational health, change management, and communication strategies.

Employee Relations & InvestigationsOversee and guide all employee relations matters, ensuring timely, thorough, and legally compliant investigations into workplace concerns.Provide counsel to leaders on performance improvement, corrective action, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.Ensure documentation standards, investigation processes, and ER decisions are consistent, defensible, and aligned to company values.Partner with Operations to proactively identify engagement and retention issues within hourly workforces across all shifts.Build supervisor capability through targeted training on HR policies, attendance management, performance management, harassment prevention, and coaching.

Union Environments (if applicable):

Manage labor relations, including contract interpretation, grievance resolution, negotiations preparation, and steward/supervisor relationship management.

Workers’ Compensation & Safety PartnershipOwn the workers’ compensation program for the site, partnering with EHS on safety performance and injury prevention.Oversee timely incident reporting, claim management, carrier/TPA coordination, and OSHA recordkeeping accuracy.Lead return-to-work strategy: develop modified duty roles, track restrictions, minimize lost time, and facilitate the interactive process.Review injury trends with EHS; recommend and implement actions that reduce WC cost drivers and improve safety culture.

Leaves of Absence (LOA), FMLA & ADA Accommodations (10%)Oversee all leave administration functions, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local leave laws (FMLA, PDL, CFRA/state equivalents, paid sick programs, disability, military leave).Ensure employees receive timely eligibility notices, required forms, and accurate pay/benefit guidance.Lead the ADA/ADAAA accommodation and interactive process; ensure legal compliance and thoughtful decision-making.Partner with Payroll and Benefits to maintain data accuracy and prevent pay or benefit errors.

Talent Acquisition, Training & DevelopmentOversee recruiting for hourly and salaried roles; ensure strong candidate funnels in competitive manufacturing markets.Implement hiring, selection, and onboarding processes that reduce turnover and accelerate productivity.Champion leadership development, safety training, compliance training, and skill-building programs.Forecast staffing needs and create workforce plans with Operations and Finance.

HR Operations, Compliance & SystemsEnsure HRIS accuracy, employee records integrity, and compliance with retention laws.Oversee timekeeping and attendance systems; ensure fairness in application of policies.Manage HR metrics: turnover, recruitment KPIs, LOA tracking, WC frequency/severity, ER trends, training completion, and engagement indicators.Lead internal audits and ensure compliance with all employment laws, site postings, I‑9 compliance, and internal policies.Maintain and update HR SOPs, handbook sections, and site-specific procedures.

Culture, Engagement & Continuous ImprovementDrive employee engagement strategies that support a stable, motivated, and high-performing hourly workforce.Partner with EHS, Quality, and Ops to reinforce safety, performance, and communication standards.Facilitate town halls, recognition programs, and other initiatives that strengthen culture.Identify process gaps and implement Lean/CI-driven HR improvements to reduce waste and improve service quality.

Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).5–8+ years progressive HR experience with at least 2+ years in a manufacturing or industrial environment.Proven experience handling employee relations, workers’ comp, LOA/FMLA, investigations, and performance management.Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA/ADAAA, FLSA, Title VII, OSHA basics).Experience influencing leaders and coaching supervisors in high‑volume hourly settings.Strong HR operations background (HRIS, payroll support, metrics, reporting).Excellent communication skills; ability to build trust at all levels.

Preferred QualificationsPHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification.Experience managing HR functions across multiple shifts in a 24/7 environment.Experience with union environments, CBAs, and grievance management (if applicable).Bilingual (e.g., English/Spanish) highly beneficial in manufacturing settings.Experience in Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement environments.Job Type & Location

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
