Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to oversee various HR functions, including compensation, performance management, risk management, recruiting, compliance, benefits administration, training, and employee relations. The ideal candidate will lead our HR team, support cross-functional projects, and drive continuous improvement across all HR and operational functions.
Responsibilities
+ Oversee the company-wide Performance Evaluation Program and enhance HR policies and procedures.
+ Manage all workers’ compensation claims and lead the company’s Loss Control and Risk Management programs.
+ Coordinate recruiting, selection, onboarding, and termination activities for all positions.
+ Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor regulations, including EEOC, OSHA/VOSH, FMLA, ADA, and others.
+ Oversee administration of all benefit programs, including vacation, Paid Sick Leave, tuition reimbursement, disability programs, life insurance, and 401(k).
+ Maintain and enhance employee training programs and development initiatives.
+ Provide leadership in promoting a values-based, high-performance culture.
+ Lead and oversee the disciplinary action process and conduct investigations related to employee misconduct.
+ Ensure proper documentation and guide supervisors and managers on disciplinary actions.
+ Support the maintenance of ISO and environmental certifications.
+ Provide leadership and performance evaluation for HR staff and production supervisors.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field with at least five years of experience; OR equivalent combination of education and a minimum of ten years of related experience.
+ 5+ years of HR management experience in a manufacturing environment.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and database utilization.
+ Demonstrated leadership skills, attention to detail, and strong decision-making ability.
+ Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with a commitment to continuous improvement.
+ Ability to communicate complex information clearly and practically.
+ Experience with advisory or consulting roles is desirable.
+ Professional HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR are preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in the manufacturing industry is ideal.
+ Strong time-management, planning, and organizational skills.
+ Ability to collaborate across departments and drive accountability.
Work Environment
The work hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with a flexible half-hour lunch break. The environment is very blue-collar, and the position is exempt from overtime. The role involves working with a small team of three people in a company with a total of 160 employees.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing all HR functions at the Virginia Beach facility, including payroll, benefits, compensation, recruiting, performance management, employee relations, training and development, workplace health and safety, and risk management. This role leads the ongoing development of NGK-LOCKE’s Personnel Management System and ensures alignment with corporate goals, legal requirements, and ISO-based Management System Standards. The HR Manager also presents HR programs to management and staff, establishes goals and evaluation benchmarks, and ensures effective communication of policies, expectations, and corrective actions. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in HR or business and brings extensive HR leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong project management capabilities, training development skills, and the ability to communicate complex or sensitive information clearly and appropriately are essential.
