Human Resources Intern - Fall Semester 2025 - Chattanooga, TN
**SUMMARY:** The Human Resources Intern will directly assist the Human Resources Department with a wide range of projects related to employee benefits, HR compliance, recruiting, onboarding, record maintenance and auditing. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** The Human Resources Intern will assist with: • Employee benefits issues related to plan renewal and open enrollment, benefits enrollment and termination, auditing employee benefits data, and the customer service aspect of benefits oversight. • Steps in the recruiting and hiring process, including: • posting job openings • reviewing resumes • conducting telephone and in-person interviews • making job offers **SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES** : This job has no supervisory responsibilities. **COMPETENCY:** To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: Human Resources - Knowledge of principles and procedures for recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and HRlS. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. **EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:** Current student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field. **LANGUAGE SKILLS:** Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations using the English language. Ability to write reports, internal business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. **MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:** Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. **REASONING ABILITY:** Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. **COMPUTER SKILLS:** To perform this job successfully, the HR Intern should possess intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and should have a working knowledge of Internet programs and other software as required. **CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:** None **OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:** Candidate will possess a positive attitude with strong creative ability; Strong written and verbal skills are required; Position requires reliable transportation to work every day; Ability to work in a team environment and to help identify and solve problems. Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive working relationships with other employees, management and others outside of the company; Ability to deal with internal and external customers and to ensure compliance with fair employment practices and perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a timely, courteous and professional manner.
