Description We are looking for an experienced Human Resources (HR) Manager to lead and oversee the HR functions of our organization in Newport News, Virginia. This role requires a strategic, hands-on individual who excels at aligning HR initiatives with business goals, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and fostering a positive workplace environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong ability to manage diverse HR responsibilities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and a high standard of conduct.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement HR strategies that align with organizational goals and drive business success.
• Establish and monitor HR systems, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient operations across the company.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws by regularly reviewing policies and consulting with legal counsel.
• Manage employee data and optimize HR modules within the organization’s HR systems, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Administer employee benefits programs, including day-to-day management and coordination with third-party providers.
• Oversee the company’s 401(k) plan, ensuring proper administration and communication with external administrators.
• Lead the recruitment process, including candidate evaluation, behavioral interviews, reference checks, and pre-employment screenings.
• Conduct orientations for new employees and manage onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure smooth transitions.
• Coordinate annual benefits open enrollment, working closely with brokers and the executive team to optimize offerings.
• Analyze compensation data to ensure equitable and competitive salary structures within the organization. Requirements • At least 10 years of human resources experience, with a proven track record in employee relations and HR administration.
• Strong expertise in benefits administration, onboarding processes, and performance review programs.
• Proficiency in HR information systems (HRIS) and payroll software, such as ADP.
• Comprehensive knowledge of employment laws, wage regulations, and HR best practices.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills to effectively manage diverse HR functions.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
• Experience with disability insurance programs and leave management is a strong advantage.
• Familiarity with payroll coordination, including tax filings, timekeeping, and deductions.
