Human Resources (HR) Assistant
Description We are looking for a skilled and proactive Human Resources (HR) Assistant to join our team in LK Forest Park, Washington. This contract position focuses on supporting recruitment efforts while ensuring compliance with policies in a structured and regulated environment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, confident in maintaining process integrity, and experienced in public sector or union-based settings. Responsibilities: • Coordinate and manage recruitment activities for civil service and police department roles, ensuring adherence to established protocols. • Screen applicants, arrange interviews, and manage communication with hiring panels. • Monitor compliance during interviews and hiring processes, intervening when procedures are not followed. • Organize and maintain candidate files, records, and I-9 documentation with precision. • Identify missing records or paperwork and follow up to ensure all documentation is complete. • Provide onboarding support, including assisting with background checks and related processes. • Uphold confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive employee information. • Contribute to the ongoing refinement of recruitment and file management practices. Requirements • Previous experience in unionized or public sector environments is highly desirable. • Ability to work within structured and regulated hiring frameworks confidently and effectively. • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with various stakeholders. • Familiarity with I-9 processing and HR compliance protocols. • Proficiency in HR systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, or similar platforms. • Experience with background checks and auditing processes.
