Human Resources Generalist
Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist supports daily HR operations across multiple states, with primary responsibility for administrative and employee lifecycle functions while partnering closely with HR leadership. This role ensures compliance with multi-state labor laws, maintains accurate HR records, and supports recruiting, onboarding, training coordination, and employee relations initiatives. Based in Southern California, this role provides remote and onsite support to out-of-state HR functions and field operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, bilingual (Spanish/English preferred), and experienced in HR systems, compliance, and workforce support in a multi-site environment.

Role and ResponsibilitiesMaintain accurate and compliant employee records, including personnel files, I-9 documentation, and benefits recordsSupport HRIS system management, data entry, reporting, and documentation trackingPerform HR-related data entry and generate reports to support HR operations, compliance, and leadership decision-makingAssist with full-cycle recruiting, including job postings, candidate communication, interview coordination, and onboarding processesCoordinate new hire onboarding, ensuring completion of required documentation and compliance requirementsEnsure compliance with federal and applicable state labor laws, including wage and hour regulations, employment eligibility verification, and safety requirementsTrack employee certifications, licenses, and required training documentation to ensure complianceAssist with internal audits and preparation for external compliance reviewsAdminister and track employee benefits eligibility, ensuring timely enrollment and accurate recordkeepingProvide employee support and education regarding insurance plans and benefits packagesAssist with open enrollment processes, including communication, system updates, and employee supportProcess and manage benefit changes related to qualifying life eventsTrain and support supervisors on HR systems for performance management, employee documentation, and policy acknowledgmentsEnsure accurate tracking of employee reviews, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plansServe as a point of contact for employee HR-related questions and provide timely supportSupport employee relations matters by gathering information, documenting issues, and escalating as appropriateAssist with translation of HR materials and communications for Spanish-speaking employees, as neededCoordinate scheduling and tracking of required training programs, including safety and compliance trainingMaintain training records and monitor completion ratesSupport Human Resources initiatives to promote engagement, communication, and organizational culturePlan and coordinate company events, including employee engagement activities and company-sponsored eventsProvide administrative support to HR and operations teams, including scheduling, reporting, and documentationSupport workplace safety initiatives through tracking, coordination, and documentation effortsMaintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee information at all timesIdentify opportunities for process improvements within HR systems and workflowsPerform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational needsQualifications and ExperienceRequiredBachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)3–5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in multi-site or multi-state environmentsWorking knowledge of applicable state and federal labor laws and compliance requirementsExperience with HRIS systems, applicant tracking systems, and employee record managementStrong administrative and organizational skills with high attention to detailPreferredBilingual in English and Spanish (strongly preferred)Experience in construction, industrial, or field-based workforce environmentsHR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR, or working toward certification)SkillsStrong knowledge of HR operations, compliance, benefits administration, and employee lifecycle managementExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and work independentlyStrong problem-solving and decision-making abilitiesHigh level of professionalism and confidentialityProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR systemsDetail-oriented with strong documentation and follow-through skills

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of El Centro, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $37.00/hr.
