Position OverviewThe Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing a broad range of HR functions, including employee relations, compensation and benefits administration, policy development, and compliance. This role serves as the primary HR resource for the organization and ensures adherence to employment, benefits, and workers’ compensation laws.
The position reports to the Director of Operations and supports a fast‑paced, mission‑driven nonprofit organization experiencing growth.
Key ResponsibilitiesHR Operations & Compliance
Develop, interpret, implement, and maintain HR policies and proceduresReview and update the Employee Handbook annually to ensure accuracy and complianceMaintain complete, accurate, and compliant personnel files, including job descriptionsPartner with legal counsel to ensure compliance with EEO, AA, FMLA, ADA, and other regulationsManage workers’ compensation, disability, and related employee mattersEmployee Relations & Development
Serve as a trusted resource for employee relations, performance management, and workplace concernsDesign, implement, and maintain employee evaluation and performance review programsProvide training and guidance to supervisors and staff on HR policies and employment regulationsRecruiting, Onboarding & Culture
Support recruiting and hiring decisions aligned with organizational values and missionDesign and deliver new‑hire orientation and onboarding programsPromote diversity, equity, and inclusion through recruitment, development, and retention practicesCommunicate key HR updates and initiatives to staff on a regular basisCompensation & Benefits
Evaluate benefit offerings annually to ensure competitive and cost‑effective programsSupport administration of compensation, benefits, and leave programsQualificationsRequired
Proven experience in Human Resources, including employee relations, onboarding, and HR administrationExperience working independently in a standalone or highly autonomous HR roleStrong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilitiesHigh ethical standards and strict confidentialityExcellent interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skillsStrong attention to detail and accuracyProficiency with basic computer applications (email, word processing, spreadsheets)Ability to perform computer‑based work for extended periodsPreferred

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.25 - $34.25/hr.
