Job Title: Human Resources Generalist
Job Description
The Human Resources Generalist performs a variety of routine and moderately complex human resources functions. These include the administration of companywide benefit plans and leave of absence programs, with a focus on overseeing and administering leave requests and accommodations requiring specialized attention. The role particularly deals with those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), workers compensation, state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans. Additionally, the position is responsible for employee relations, onboarding, benefits plan orientation, and ensuring compliance with employment law. The role also involves preparing employee communications regarding policies, processes, and procedures while providing a high level of customer service across the organization.
Responsibilities
Administer and communicate various Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations.Ensure legal and ethical compliance with state, federal, and local laws.Oversee companywide benefit plans and serve as the primary point of contact for employees, benefit plan providers, and TPA’s.Manage benefits administration, including monthly billing reconciliations, vendor check requests, ACA compliance, and open enrollment processes.Maintain employee benefits filing systems and ensure benefits changes are accurately entered in payroll systems.Perform regular audits to ensure processes and HRIS meet regulatory compliance requirements.Assist employees with health, dental, life, and related benefit claims, and conduct benefits orientations.Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.Respond to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, enrollments, status changes, and other inquiries.Handle FMLA leave administration from initial notice to return to work, including paperwork, eligibility, and medical certification.Work with employees and disability plan providers according to plan rules and State and Federal leave laws.Collaborate with internal departments like EHS, Payroll, Human Resources, and Finance to ensure proper administration of leave of absence procedures.Essential Skills
Hands-on benefits administration experience.Strong billing experience with carrier and finance coordination.Experience in LOA administration, managing approximately 10–15 concurrent leaves.Experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Tagalog is required.Ability to quickly adapt in a fast-paced, high-pressure period.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Certifications such as PHR, SHRM, or benefits-focused certifications are preferred but not required.Experience with excel, ACA compliance, employee relations, and employee engagement.Work Environment
The position requires working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, especially during critical transition periods such as open enrollment and audit season. The role may require coordination with multiple departments and stakeholders, necessitating strong communication and organizational skills. The work environment values accuracy and employee advocacy to ensure smooth and efficient processes.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oceanside, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $44.00/hr.
