Human Resources Generalist
Job Title: Human Resources GeneralistOverview We’re seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to support core HR functions including payroll, benefits, leave administration, compliance, and employee relations. This role is pivotal in maintaining smooth HR operations and will also contribute to the evaluation and potential transition of payroll systems. The HR Generalist reports directly to the HR Manager or General Manager and works closely with employees across departments. Key Responsibilities Payroll & Timekeeping + Prepare and audit semi-monthly payroll using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring accuracy in wages, accruals, and compliance with meal/rest break regulations. + Review timecards for completeness and accuracy; follow up with supervisors as needed. + Generate payroll reports for internal stakeholders and submit payroll packages for approval. Leave Administration + Manage all aspects of employee leaves (FMLA/CFRA, ADA/FEHA, Disability, Workers’ Compensation), including documentation, communication, and compliance. + Serve as the primary contact for employees navigating medical or personal leave. Benefits Administration + Support open enrollment, HSA/401(k) contributions, and vendor coordination. + Ensure accurate processing of quarterly HSA contributions and 401(k) company match uploads. + Address employee questions regarding benefits and payroll deductions. Recruitment & Onboarding + Assist with job postings, candidate tracking, interview scheduling, and offer letter preparation. + Conduct onboarding activities including I-9 verification, background checks, and orientation. + Audit new hire documentation for compliance. Employee Relations & Compliance + Act as the first point of contact for employee inquiries, escalating as appropriate. + Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. + Ensure compliance with California-specific labor laws and HR regulations (e.g., wage transparency, harassment prevention, OSHA postings). + Keep HR records, files, and postings current and organized. Systems & Reporting + Support the potential transition from ADP Workforce Now to Paylocity or similar platforms. + Maintain data integrity across HRIS and benefits systems. + Assist with audits and generate reports related to ACA, payroll, and compliance. Required Qualifications + Minimum 3 years of generalist HR experience, with direct experience in California employment law. + Proficiency in HRIS/payroll systems (ADP and/or Paylocity preferred). + Strong understanding of federal and California HR regulations (FMLA/CFRA, ADA/FEHA, ACA, wage/hour). + Experience managing LOAs, benefits, and employee relations in a confidential environment. + Hands-on experience with full-cycle payroll for 60+ employees (hourly and salaried). + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). + Comfortable working in a manufacturing or technical environment with diverse employee groups. Preferred Qualifications + HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus. + Experience supporting both production staff and technical professionals. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. + Ability to foster a collaborative and respectful workplace culture. Work Environment + 100% onsite role in a regulated environment with a workforce ranging from 60–100 employees. + Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM; potential for 9/80 schedule if converted to direct hire. + The organization values transparency, employee engagement, and maintaining a close-knit team dynamic. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $41.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
