Human Resources Generalist
Job Title: Human Resources GeneralistJob Title: HR GeneralistPosition Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive HR Generalist to support day-to-day human resources operations and ensure compliance with California employment regulations. This role reports directly to the HR Manager or General Manager and will be instrumental in managing payroll, benefits, employee relations, and compliance, especially during a potential transition from ADP Workforce Now to Paylocity or Gusto. Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll Administration + Prepare and audit semi-monthly payroll using ADP Workforce Now. + Review timecards for accuracy in hours, meal/rest breaks, and leave usage. + Generate payroll reports for finance and leadership. + Submit payroll packages for approval prior to funding. Leave Management & Workers’ Compensation + Administer and track employee leaves (FMLA/CFRA, ADA/FEHA, Disability, Workers’ Comp). + Maintain timely communication and documentation throughout leave processes. + Serve as primary contact for employees on medical or personal leave. Benefits Administration + Support open enrollment, HSA/401(k) contributions, and vendor coordination. + Ensure accurate processing of payroll deductions and company match uploads. + Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits and deductions. Recruiting & Onboarding + Assist with job postings, candidate tracking, interview scheduling, and offer letters. + Conduct onboarding, I-9 verification, background checks, and orientation. + Audit new hire documentation for compliance. 👥 Employee Relations & Compliance + Act as first point of contact for employee questions and concerns. + Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. + Ensure compliance with California-specific HR regulations (meal/rest, wage transparency, ACA, OSHA, harassment prevention). + Keep HR records and postings current. Reporting & Systems Support + Generate reports and assist with audits (ACA, payroll, compliance). + Support transition planning from ADP Workforce Now to Paylocity or Gusto. + Maintain data integrity across HRIS and benefits platforms. Qualifications + Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred. + 3+ years of HR and payroll experience, with strong knowledge of California labor laws. + Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now; familiarity with Paylocity or Gusto is a plus. + Experience managing LOAs, benefits, and employee relations. + High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry. + Strong communication skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
