**Responsibilities**
The Human Resources Generalist at the Erie, PA Tool Shop plays a key role in supporting the plant’s workforce and leadership by delivering comprehensive HR services. This position is responsible for implementing and managing HR programs and initiatives across a variety of functional areas including employee relations, staffing, onboarding, performance management, compliance, and HR systems. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with strong interpersonal skills and a solid understanding of employment law and HR best practices in a manufacturing environment.
**Key Accountabilities**
+ Administer and support HR programs including staffing, onboarding, compensation, benefits, training, and employee relations.
+ Serve as a key point of contact for employees and managers, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and employment law compliance.
+ Facilitate the onboarding process and develop strategies to enhance new hire retention and engagement.
+ Manage and track leaves of absence (FMLA, STD, LTD) and ensure compliance with ADA and HIPAA regulations.
+ Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in HRIS and payroll systems (Oracle, UKG WFM).
+ Support performance management processes by coaching managers and employees, resolving conflicts, and promoting continuous improvement.
+ Coordinate and manage apprenticeship programs in alignment with departmental needs and guidelines.
+ Conduct employee relations activities including counseling, stay interviews, and exit interviews.
+ Assist with internal communications and employee engagement initiatives.
+ Prepare and analyze HR reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
+ Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by the HR Manager.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent HR experience (minimum 2–4 years).
+ Prior HR experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting strongly preferred.
+ Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
+ Proficiency in HRIS and payroll systems (Oracle and UKG WFM Pro preferred).
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
+ PHR or SHRM-CP certification is a plus.
