The Human Resources Business Partner is responsible for performing administrative, day-to-day operations, and strategic functions across all functional areas of People Operations. The role focuses on providing guidance, managing compliance, and supporting the continuous development of the department.
ResponsibilitiesHandle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and management, referring complex matters to appropriate staff.Provide personnel policy and procedure guidance to employees.Track and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.Conduct new hire orientations and facilitate the onboarding process.Develop and implement safety programs and policies to promote a safe work environment.Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and risks.Create reports to measure operational efficiency, such as turnover and retention.Collaborate with the Director on executing departmental projects for continuous development.Investigate workplace incidents and accidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.Manage workers’ compensation claims process, including filing claims and coordinating medical treatment and return-to-work programs.Maintain accurate and up-to-date personnel files, records, and documentation.Handle employment-related litigation cases and cross-train in all areas of the People Operations department.Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees related to standard policies, benefits, and hiring processes.Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure proper documentation.Assist with new hire orientation and onboarding.Schedule and organize appointments, including candidate interviews and testing.Process paperwork for employee transfers, changes in job classification, status, salary increases, and terminations.Collaborate with the People Operations Director on process improvements and strategic planning projects.Build trusted partnerships with program directors to establish reporting and audit requirements.Assist the People Operations Director with metrics, queries, and related reports.Assist the team in all areas of People Operations, including employee relations matters.Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.Stay informed about trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.Participate in meetings and groups as required.Oversee and manage a team.Perform other related duties as assigned.Essential SkillsExperience in employee relations, performance management, benefits verification, onboarding, and offboarding.Knowledge of learning and development, HRIS, ADP, and SHRM.High School Diploma or GED with three years of experience in a Human Resources role.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in human resources and five years of experience in a Human Resources role is preferred.Certifications such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP are preferred.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Proficiency with or ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.Work EnvironmentThe position is 100% onsite in Downtown Los Angeles. The role involves minimal travel (10%) to local facilities in the LA area. The work environment is generally an indoor office setting with moderate noise levels. The temperature is usually moderate to cool, but can vary from cold to hot. The role requires frequent lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds, sitting and typing for extended periods, and occasional walking, climbing, pulling, pushing, grasping, stretching, and stooping. Employees must thrive in an environment that requires adaptation to changing circumstances and be able to handle mental and emotional stress related to the position.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $58.00/hr.
