Job Description
The Office of Chief Medical Examiner investigates cases of persons who die within New York City from criminal violence, by accident, by suicide, suddenly when in apparent health, when unattended by a physician, in a correctional facility or in any suspicious or unusual manner or where an application is made pursuant to law for a permit to cremate a body of a person.

The core functions of the Human Resources & Labor Relations Unit include recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, employee discipline, labor relations, performance management, payroll, timekeeping, leaves, professional development and Special Projects. The selected candidate will assist with various administrative tasks included but not limited to:
- Provide assistance to Recruitment, Time, Leave, and Payroll, and Labor Relations staff by offering administrative support and ensuring smooth operations, as well as supporting Special Projects as needed.
- Assist in reviewing candidate qualifications and help forward qualified r sum s to hiring managers to facilitate interview scheduling.
- Schedule meetings and conferences, including Step 1 and Step 2.
- Support employee processing tasks and assist with NYCAPS implementations, ensuring accurate data entry and record keeping.
- Assist with City Time entries, including making approver and schedule changes, OT approvals, and manual data entries.
- Help document and process sick leave, blood donations, FMLA requests, jury duty actions, and absence control reports.
- Assist with preparing confidential reports and entering information into NYCAPS and other HR systems such as CHRMS and PMS accurately.
- Maintain effective communication with DCAS to assist in scheduling employees and coordinating training sessions.
- Support the maintenance of employee records, including OCME Employee folders, and time and leave documentation.
- Assist with collecting DNA samples from new OCME employees and non-employee workers (N-E-W) as necessary.
- Help coordinate and attend recruitment events to support outreach efforts.
- Perform other administrative duties and assist with special projects as assigned to support departmental operations.

Qualifications
1. There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position. However, the ability to understand and carry out simple instructions is required.
2. Candidates must be able to understand and be understood in English.
