Human Resources Assistant
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to join our team in Calabasas, California, within the dynamic real estate and property industry. In this Contract-to-Permanent position, you will play a key role in supporting HR operations, including termination processes, onboarding activities, and pre-employment screenings. Responsibilities: • Process employee terminations by ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements. • Conduct exit interviews, document feedback, and handle the collection of company property. • Manage final paychecks, benefits cancellations, and update HR systems with termination details. • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for separation notices and other formal records. • Initiate and oversee pre-employment screenings, including criminal records, employment verification, and reference checks. • Track and follow up on pending screening results to ensure timely completion. • Maintain accurate records of completed screenings while adhering to privacy regulations. • Coordinate onboarding activities, including preparing employment contracts, tax forms, and employee handbooks. • Conduct orientation sessions to familiarize new hires with company policies, procedures, and culture. • Collaborate with team members to uphold HR standards and ensure smooth administrative operations. Requirements • At least 1 year of experience in human resources or a related field. • Proficiency in HR systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, and HRMS. • Familiarity with procedures and compliance standards related to employment practices. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing employee records and documentation. • Experience with onboarding processes, including preparing and presenting materials to new hires. • Knowledge of benefit functions and auditing practices within HR operations. • Excellent customer service and communication skills to interact effectively with employees and stakeholders. • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy laws in handling sensitive information.
