This open competitive advertisement is for a SES (Selected Exempt Service) position located at the Central Office in the Office of Human Resources Payroll Department.
Our mission in OHR Payroll is to ensure accurate and timely payroll, comprehensive benefits management, and effective leave administration while maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
+ Provide guidance to employees and managers regarding payroll, attendance and leave, and retirement and benefits laws, rules, and policies.
+ Oversee the payroll process to ensure accurate and timely payment of salaries and wages, and resolve payroll discrepancies.
+ Administer leave programs, including annual leave, sick leave, parental leave, FMLA, and ensure accurate tracking and reporting of leave balances.
+ Oversee the administration of workers' compensation claims, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of workplace injuries and illnesses.
+ Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement plans, and conduct benefits enrollment.
+ Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to payroll, attendance, leave, and benefits, and maintain accurate records for all HR functions.

REQUIREMENTS:

+ Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
+ Must possess at least five (5) years of experience in performing and/or managing human resources/personnel.
+ College education may substitute for the required experience as outlined below;
+ Completion of a two-year degree from an accredited college AND three (3) years of experience in performing and/or managing human resources/personnel.
+ Completion of a four-year degree from an accredited college or university AND one (1) year of experience in performing and/or managing human resource/personnel.
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
