Job Title: HR Compliance Director - 100% REMOTE
Job Description
The Director of HR Compliance plays a pivotal role in ensuring that HR policies and practices align with municipal, county, state, and federal laws. This position provides leadership and guidance in the development and enhancement of HR policies to meet the needs of both Human Resources and client departments. The Director leads operational plans for wage and hour compliance and offers consultation and education to integrate compliance with regulatory standards across HR programs.
Responsibilities
Ensure HR policies and practices comply with municipal, county, state, and federal laws.Provide direction for assessing compliance with accreditation standards for hospitals, service lines, and laboratory programs.Act as the HR Accreditation Lead during audits and investigations, ensuring timely submission of compliance proof.Develop strategic plans to mitigate HR-related risks affecting organizational reputation, security, safety, and sustainability.Liaise with risk management to develop remediation plans based on trends in grievances and legal claims.Manage the Alternative Work Schedule program to ensure compliance.Develop, enforce, and audit timekeeping policies for accurate tracking of hours worked, meal periods, and rest breaks.Deliver HR compliance and policy standards to operational leaders and develop training programs as needed.Create, maintain, and oversee the document flow of the HR policy approval process.Manage and train staff on HR compliance components for hospital and service line surveys.Lead recruiting and onboarding efforts to ensure adequate staffing levels.Conduct regular compliance audits of HR policies, procedures, and employee data.Essential Skills
Fifteen years of progressively responsible HR experience, including 5+ years in a Director-level role.Strong hospital management experience with expertise in regulatory compliance.Ability to analyze, organize, and solve problems, identifying system vulnerabilities and developing solutions.Ability to direct and manage high-impact projects and communications.Foster effective working relationships and build consensus.Knowledge of HR functional operations, business systems, and processes.Understanding of local, state, and federal regulatory requirements related to HR.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.Expertise in California wage and hour laws, including meal and rest break compliance.Experience with timekeeping/workforce systems such as Kronos or UKG.Experience in healthcare systems with large workforces, especially clinical populations.Audit and investigation experience in wage and hour audits and policy enforcement.Work Environment
The typical workday is from 8 AM to 5 PM. Knowledge of California laws is essential for this position.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Redwood City, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $79.76 - $111.75/hr.
